Orange Cake: the recipe

Ingredients

To make your orange cake you will need:

  • 80 g of butter at room temperature
  • 270 g of all-purpose flour
  • 3 whole eggs at room temperature
  • 125 g of granulated sugar
  • 180 g of orange juice
  • 10 g of baking powder
  • the zest of 2 oranges
  • icing sugar

How to prepare your orange cake

  • Preheat the static oven to 170°. In the meantime, grate the zest of 2 oranges into a bowl, and separately, squeeze the oranges until you obtain 180 g of juice.
  • Take another bowl and sift the flour and the baking powder.
  • As concern the dough: pour the sugar and diced butter into a container and start working with an electric whisk.
  • When your mixture will be puffy and creamy, add the eggs and orange zest while continuing to knead.
  • Gradually add the previously sifted flour and backing powder.
  • Once everything is mixed, continuing to knead, slowly add the orange juice.
  • When the mixture seems homogeneous, butter a cake pan and line it with baking paper.
  • Transfer the mixture to the pan and bake at 170° for 35 minutes. Before removing the cake from the oven, we suggest you to do the toothpick test: what does it means? Just insert the toothpick into the cake and check if it is dry when you remove it, this will be the sign of a successful cooking.
  • Sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy!

Which is the secret for a high and tasty orange cake? Choose ripe and juicy oranges which will guarantee maximum flavor and aroma to the cake. Furthermore, remember to pay attention to the eggs: it is better to use eggs at room temperature and not eggs taken directly from the fridge.

Storage
